More CURATD x LTS!!

You all know how much I love whenever LTS releases another CURATD capsule. If I could, I’d probably buy the entire collection. And I think I’m in love with the 70s vibes coming from this outfit. All I need to track down is a pair of high waisted, wide legged denim pants and this look would be even more perfect!

I ♡ Toronto

I find one of the most common questions I get working downtown (aside from anything height related), is if I’m from here. My response, I grew up a few hours outside the city, but I’ve been living in Toronto off and on now for 7 years, and yes, I absolutely love it.

Brighter2 (4 of 8)

I find it hard to imagine living anywhere else. This city always has something going on. Anything you need is generally accessible within a few blocks at any given time, and though it seems absolutely massive, Toronto is actually so small. I used to feel like just another number in the crowd, but nowadays, I can rarely go for a walk downtown without seeing someone I know. Probably part of the reason I love putting together dope outfits.. If I’m going to be seen by ANYone I know, I better look and feel amazing!

Another huge thank you to Long Tall Sally for giving me a taste of their new CURATD capsule. I’m always confident I’ll be on trend and looking well put together with the pieces they’ve been putting out. Perfect styles to be seen in 😉
My ONLY downside this time around is the fit of these gorgeous pants. I don’t know if it’s the extra leg exercises I’ve been doing lately or what, but my thighs seemed a bit too thick for the silhouette of the pant, and the waist a bit loose in comparison. They wore well while I was standing, but any extra movement (including sitting) wasn’t the most comfortable.

Can it be Summer forever?

As the temperatures begin to drop here in Toronto (rather early it seems as we’re only just finishing August), I can’t help but think how lovely it would be to extend my summer somewhere warmer. Fantasizing about tropical vacations has me mentally preparing a packing list, so I’ve put together just a few of my must-haves for a (late) summer getaway. While I ALWAYS over pack, there are only a few things I can’t leave without.

If I’m about to go spend time in the sun, the first thing that’s going in my bag is my Maui Babe Browning Lotion. It’s basically an accelerating tanning lotion that smells and works like a dream. I could rave on and on about it, but the website does that enough. I’m not usually super tanned, but any sort of tan I have is all thanks to this stuff. Of course after my skin is sunkissed, I need to moisturize, so the second thing in my bag is my atma Crystal Infused Whipped Moon Butter. There are SO many cool qualities to this body butter (definitely check it out), but the best part is how rich it makes your skin look. The deep moisturizing qualities give my skin a glow that I haven’t been able to find with any other moisturizer, especially on a bit of a tan! I LIVE by this moon butter.

FullSizeRenderIMG_4671JeanMachine-1

Another nifty travel item is my new carryall from local shop This & That Design Co. While they make pouches/bags of multiple different sizes, their smallest carry-all is perfect for ID, passport, and money/cards. Why bring your entire wallet when chances are you probably won’t need that Sephora points card on the beach anyways? 😉

IMG_4685

Last but not least: vacation wardrobe. First up, is swimwear. My current favourite is by a one-piece by local designer for label Hvmility, seen HERE (swimwear is unavailable online but I’m sure you could inquire with an email)! And as much as I like to think I’m packing an outfit a day, it probably usually ends up being more like two per day. That being said, ONE PIECES ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND! Whether it be dresses, rompers, or jumpsuits, these items are already a full outfit without the stress of matching tops/bottoms. Throw in a great jacket, and a nude sandal, and you’re ready to take that outfit from day to night in no time!

There you have it. It might look like I keep things simple, but this overpacker usually has wayyyy more on her packing list. But as long as I get that sunkissed glow and I’ve got outfits that make a statement, everything else is just details. ….now to figure out where I want to go 😉

Boots & Tarps 2017

One of my first loves has always been music, and every time I get to enjoy live music I’m always kicking myself for not doing so more often. Growing up listening almost exclusively to country music, I was SO excited to get to go to Boots&Hearts country music festival for the second consecutive time this past weekend (see last year HERE).

There were so many amazing artists this year, but there were two that made my entire weekend, both of which played on Saturday; The Abrams, and JJ Shiplett. I’m by no means a music blogger (lol these days I’m barely even a fashion blogger), BUT, I can not say enough about both of these performances. The Abrams had a killer fiddle that gave me exactly the kind of country music I had been craving the whole weekend, and JJ Shiplett has the kind of voice that melts my soul. His smooth and raspy vocals almost made up for the fact that I missed out on another favourite artist of mine that night at home in Toronto (James Arthur.. basically crying forever for missing out on his show).

As excited as I get for the music, I’m almost just as excited (though much more stressed) when it comes to picking out festival outfit. And just when I thought I’d had it all planned out, the weather forecast and potential for a rainy weekend made me rethink my entire fashion lineup. I decided this year to keep things relatively simple, and played up the country vibes more than I did last year (I even bought myself a cowboy hat on the Thursday night!). Outfit details below with coordinating polaroid ❤

As I’m getting settled at home again today, I’m already going through festival withdrawal. Especially since Long Tall Sally released the PERFECT clothing capsule earlier this summer. I got creative with fellow tall babe Layna Simone and photgrapher Tudor Stanescu, while we lived out our festival vibes for a shoot a few weeks ago here in Toronto! Expect me to look this fabulous at some late summer food festivals because who said festival fashion ends with music?!

Staying Motivated with MPGxLTS

With spring just around the corner, I’m feeling the push to get my fitness routine back to being a regular routine. While I’m in the groove of getting myself back on track, I figured I’d share some tips and tricks that keep me motivated/excited about my workouts, and afterwards I’ve got two new outfits to go with it (you didn’t think I’d leave the fun part out did you?!). I’m definitely no expert, and there are plenty of fitness gurus online that you can pull inspiration from, but I’ve been feeling good about the work I’ve been putting in and thought I’d share what works for me!

  1. Schedule your gym/workout time! I understand a busy schedule. In fact, mine has been a bit TOO busy lately what with moving apartments thrown into the mix. But now that that’s done, I’m back to figuring out when I can get to the gym. I end up scheduling my workouts just like I’d schedule a meeting, or an appointment. Whether it’s a chunk of time to go to the gym, or doing squats between chores when your schedule is just too tight, write it down! You have no excuse when you’ve already allotted time for it.
  2. Change up your routine. Since I’ve started going back to the gym, I’ve tried to make sure I’m not doing the same thing over and over. It keeps things interesting and keeps your body engaged. Doing the same thing day in and day out, your body will eventually plateau and you won’t see much growth, plus, it’s way more fun when you’ve got other options. I like to throw classes into the mix when I can fit them in because it generally gets me moving in ways I don’t do on my own, and at a different pace than I often workout.
  3. Find what makes you feel good. I feel most productive at the gym when I’m in a good mood. Often enough, all I need is a good playlist to get me grooving. Lately I’ve been jamming to Rag’N’Bone Man’s new album ‘Human.’I don’t think it’s typical workout music, but whatever works for you, roll with it!
Not gonna lie, I also feel great when I’ve got a great gym outfit on too, which I never really realized until recently. For awhile I was just wearing simple workout pants and a cut off tshirt (which, don’t get me wrong, I still wear!!), but sometimes a fresh outfit give me that extra push I need. When I look the part, it’s almost easier to act the part. And when acting the part consists of working out harder, my body is not complaining!
  4. Don’t compare yourself to others. I often look at others as inspiration (@tammyhembrow and @rahrahxoxo are some of my faves on Insta), but sometimes it’s easy to look at them and feel intimidated/defeated because I’m not where they are. Don’t get caught up in that trap! Everyone is at different stages in their fitness journey, and comparing yourself to someone else is like comparing apples and oranges. You may both be working out, but they probably have a completely different body type than you, and have probably been going at it longer/harder, and have a different diet/lifestyle/etc. The only way to gauge progress is to compare yourself against yourself. Listen to your body and watch as it responds/changes over time. I find that when I see even the slightest improvement, I’m even more excited to push myself a little bit more.
  5. Listen to your body. Everyone has days when they’re not feeling motivated, and sometimes those days your workout is short and sweet and you don’t do much. The point though, is that you still did something. I’ve learned that to stay motivated, I don’t work well if I’m really not feeling it. But I also have to balance that with pushing myself when I’m feeling a bit low energy. This often means doing that extra repetition when I think I’m done. Or adding that extra 5 pounds to my weights during my last set. The longer I work out the better I get at listening to what my body needs, and what it can do. I’ve been going at my own pace, but I’m learning how/when to push myself, especially when I feel like I can’t.

There it is! I’m no expert by ANY means. Just a girl figuring out how I can better myself and my body. Let me know what you think, and if you have any tips/tricks that help you out.

OH!! And my newest (and favourite) outfits! When LTS announced their collab with MPG Sport, I decided what better way to use my Long Tall Sally Christmas gift card I’d been saving. I bought myself the mesh paneled workout tights and fell in love. So when LTS asked if I’d be interested in trying out a few more pieces, I was obviously excited, and after wearing them all, I’m a fan.

Jogging Pants: Washed Sweatpants, Long Tall Sally
I’m wearing a Small. The length and fit are perfect (surprise surprise). They are incredibly comfortable and soft on the inside, and stylish if you’re wearing them out and about while running errands.

T-Shirt: MPGxLTS Eden Warm Down Top, Long Tall Sally
I love the light weight material, and the detailing on the back panel!

Tights: MPGxLTS Splicer Fabric Mixed Leggings, Long Tall Sally
I’m wearing an Extra Small. I LOVE THESE! They fit beautifully. The material is a nice thick fabric but still breathes while working out.

Sports Bra: MPGxLTS Accomplish Sports Bra, Long Tall Sally
I’m wearing a size Small. Overall, it fits and feels great! I don’t really notice it at all while I’m working out. Though it’s a touch difficult to do the hooks up on the back.

Jacket: Bomber Jacket, Long Tall Sally
I’m wearing a US8. This jacket is a new staple in my wardrobe. Basic black. Dressed up or down, it’s a stylish and simple addition to any outfit.

Shoes: Adidas Pureboost X trainers, Footlocker
I’ve only worn these sneakers a few times so far, but they feel like a cloud on my feet! I don’t know if it’s because my last trainers were far older than I’m willing to admit, but regardless, I’m loving these!

Mix and Match

You never realize how much stuff you have until you move. This month has been the absolute craziest, spending time packing and moving our old apartment to our new one. Just when we think we’ve got everything pretty much tied up, there’s another van load to be moved. The way everything worked out, we ended up having over a month overlapping which gave us time to move everything over the course of a few weeks, but paying for two apartments for almost a full month also tightens up the budget a bit. This is why I decided to share some of my favourite pieces that I bought ON SALE!

The best part of this entire outfit, is the fact that the mixing of patterns and textures doesn’t necessarily make sense together, so much so that it just works. Even though I love the idea of mixing and matching, my day to day mood/vibe is not generally this bold. But every once in awhile, that’s exactly the style I’m  looking for.

Shirt: TTYAxLTS Origami Flower Over Shirt, Long Tall Sally
Originally $99, still available and on sale for $39!!
I’m wearing a size 6.
Shorts: TTYAxLTS Origami Flower Shorts, Long Tall Sally
Originally $79, still available and on sale for $35!!
I’m wearing a size 6.
Jacket: The Store On Queen
Though this awesome faux fur jacket is no longer available, the store often gets great and unique pieces, and when they go on sale, they reallyyy go on sale! When I bought this one, if I remember correctly, it was 60% off the sale price ❤
Bag: Holographic Weekender by Current Mood, Dollskill.
$45, but I scooped it up during their Cyber Monday sale for 30% off! (though they often have some sort of sale/promo going on)
Choker: Notice Me Senpai leather choker with brass stud closure, Oak & Honey x Pink City
Newly released item, $24. Not currently on sale.
Shoes: Aldo

Are there any brands that generally host great sales? I feel like I’ll be catching up after this move for awhile, so I may have to stick to fashion on a budget and I need all the tips I can get. Where do you find your favourite deals??

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Now I know what you’re thinking.. “Stef, we’ve seen this coat already!” (seen HERE)
If you’ve browsed through the CURATDxLTS collection though, you’ll understand why I had to use it again. The entire capsule is stunning and when I got the ribbed turtleneck dress, I knew the only way I could shoot it was with the CURATD jacket as well.

pink-nov-2016-0091

I love monochromatic outfits and I’m currently obsessing over this one. I’ve been seeing this dusty lavender pink everywhere this season so before the season is up, my goal is to find a bag to match (I’ve already scoped out a pair of boots). Now that I’ve gotten some more wear out of the coat, I’m realizing it’s so much warmer that I expected. It may look thin, and there’s only a one button closure, but this coat is definitely a good mix of fashion AND function.

The dress is a simple yet beautiful piece. It felt a bit shorter than I expected when I got it on, and I was a bit surprised by how high the slit went on the side but I think the turtleneck and long sleeves balance it out nicely. It feels classic, but still fresh. And not gonna lie, my boyfriend was a fan of this one 🙂

The beginning of November is bittersweet. First of all it means that my birth-o-ween is officially over (I celebrate my birthday on October 29, plus, of course, Halloween within the same weekend). It also mean that the cooler weather is here to stay and, usually by now, getting colder.

img_7035-2

I’m all for fall weather. For most fashionistas, it’s the perfect time of year for fashion. It’s the time of year for jackets, scarves, hats and layers! It’s my favourite time of year (having my birthday at this time of year helps lol), but there’s always the impending doom that the snow is just around the corner.

This week I played with some layers and also pulled out my leather shorts that I can never actually wear in the summer. Pairing thigh high socks with shorts makes them wearable in cooler weather and is a fun and playful way to change up your fall wardrobe.

My jacket in this post is from Bench. I never realized that they made items that fit taller girls but I’m so stoked to add another brand to the list of brands I can wear! I love how cozy this coat is, like a big oversized sweater. I picked this one up from Long Tall Sally during their 40th Anniversary party and probably would never have discovered that Bench fits me if they didn’t carry a selection of outside brands.

Coat: Bench, from Long Tall Sally
Shorts: Glamorous, from The Store On Queen (ps, they’re actually overalls!!)

CURATD x Long Tall Sally

I always look forward to newness from Long Tall Sally, but I was SO excited when I learned that they were releasing a new capsule collection. Today, they release CURATD x Long Tall Sally. Judging from some of the feedback I’ve seen when they first announced this upcoming collection, I’m not the only one anxiously anticipating its release!

dsc00237

I have only good things to say about this collection. It’s full of pieces that are beautiful, current and everything you thought you were looking for this season. The colour palette is definitely right on trend, and though I’m not typically in love with wearing pink, I’ve found myself leaning towards the pink pieces. It was difficult for me to choose which item to add to my wardrobe but ultimately I just couldn’t say no to the (yes, PINK) single button maxi coat.

Needless to say, I definitely am not finished shopping this collection and hope to see more collabs of this kind in the future!

Thanksgiving 2o16

photo-2016-10-08-6-35-35-pmIt’s Turkey Day here in Canada! It’s still a work day for me, but I was fortunate enough to celebrate Thanksgiving with some of my family on Saturday. I don’t always get back home to see family at this time of year but when I can it’s one of my favourite visits. Not only are there incredible amounts of food to indulge in, but it’s a chance to reconnect with family that I don’t often get to visit with. I come from an extremely large extended family, for which I am forever grateful, and I’m also thankful that there has never been a moment I’ve felt a lack of love from them.

I kept my outfit simple and cozy with this sweater dress from Long Tall Sally. It’s a chic and classy look, but casual and perfect for lounging around, playing catch up with my cousins. Not gonna lie, a few of my aunts were eyeing up this dress, each offering to “take it off my hands” if my closet was getting too full. Let’s be honest, a closet can never REALLY be too full!

I was really excited when my mom told me that my baby sister had been taking a photography course. I jumped on the opportunity and asked if she’d mind being this week’s blog photographer. I think she did a pretty great job. Before you know it, she’ll be shooting fully styled creatives and editorials for me 🙂 (now if only she were closer).

Also, did you  notice the tiny bracelet I’m wearing? Made in support of Jordana’s Rainbows, a fund made to support DIPG research at Sick Kids Hospital. They come in every colour of the rainbow, each colour representing different chakras. The green thread represents the Heart Chakra (love, compassion and empathy). To learn more about their story, be sure to check out their Facebook and Instagram, or even make a donation HERE if the cause resonates with you. ❤
